Currently, I am not accepting commercial health insurance (although that may change in the near futures); however, I can provide documentation for out of network expenditures if your insurance company reimburses you for out of pocket mental health services. No, only a doctor or nurse practitioner can prescribe medication. Preferably, a psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse practitioner should be prescribing any psychotropic (mental health) medications. A primary care doctor can also prescribe some psychotropic medications, such as anti-depressants. It is best practice for your therapist to connected to your prescriber if you are taking any medications for mental health.
